Old wives' myths about the gender of your baby - BUSTED! Is it a boy or a girl?

Soooo, I wanted to write a post to let people know that the old wives' tales about the gender of your baby are NOT true!! They might match for some, but there is anyways a 50-50% chance of matching, so if they do, is pure coincidence!!

I am 30 weeks pregnant now, and untill yesterday I wasn't sure about the gender of my baby, which is annoying, these days, when people know for sure as soon as 16 weeks or so! At the first ultrasound at 3 months, we've been told it looked like a boy. But that it could be the umbilical cord that the baby was riding, yadda yadda... so nothing sure. Okay, we waited till 5 months, and we've been told its a girl! The doc was so sure, she even wrote the *female* sign on my *mutterpass*, and said its 98% a girl (no doc will say 100% on a 5 months ultrasound, I guess). We went shopping for girl clothes, obviously ...

But the grandparents were asking for pics cuz they heared about the 3D and 4D ultrasounds... lol (I meantion that so far we've only been to 2D, which is the only scan that's relevant for the health of the baby, the 3D and 4D is said to be only for commercial purposes... we found that out by research). So at 6 months we went for a 3D/4D to get pics and videos for the grandparents! Surprise here! Doc said it sure looks more like a boy than a girl, but nothing was sure because, as he explained us, the sexual organs of the babies in the womb are very similar for a while, untill the testicles become visible (in case it's a boy) . So again.. we didn't know anymore! Man, so frustrating!! No more pink clothes shopping for a while! And yesterday we went again to the checkup, where the doc did a 2D again and this time it was VERY clear. BOY! :)))
So yeah, after the rambling, here are the myths that I wanted to bust, as all this time I've been making Quiz's on the net to guess the sex of the baby! lol

1. The fact that the belly is high or low has nothing to do with the sex of the baby. Mine is exactly in the middle!

2. What they say about body hair during pregnancy is not true either, because they say that when you are gonna have a boy your body hair will grow stronger and darker. Well, mine almost disappeared, instead!

3. Acne is not a sign either, they were saying that if you get mild acne it's a boy... in some places where saying that if you get bad acne is a boy. None was true for me, I went from bad skin and breakouts (before pregnancy) to great skin with no acne at all, and almost no black heads either! Go figure!

4. The heartbeat is no sign either. My baby's heartbeat is over 140 beats/minute and they say that in this case it should be a girl. Well, myth busted! The baby is just very active so the heart is sure faster!

5. They say your nose will spread if you have a boy. Hell, no way! My nose is fine, thank you!

6. They say you look way better when pregnant if you are haveving a boy, because girls steal mothers' looks. Well I think I look the same, except for the acne that is gone, thank God. No significant changes, maybe my face is a bit rounder, but that's normal cuz I sure gained some weight! And as the blood volume in the body during pregnancy is 50% higher, is normal that your face looks a bit more *awake*

7. Morning sickness. They say that if you experience nausea during the whole day, not only in the morning, means you are having a girl, and if you feel nauseous only in the morning, it's a boy. Well I was nauseous all the time, mostly in the evening actually!

8. They say that when it's a girl, the daddy looses weight, and when it's a boy, dad gains weight! False! Hubby lost weight! But here I am not sure if to count this, as he was all the time convinced we were having a girl! And he wanted a girl! lol

9. Cravings: they say that if you are craving sweets and fruits, it's a girl, and if you are craving salty and sour foods, it's a boy. Well, all my life I've been crazy about salty and sour things, I never really cared too much for sweets or fruits! Guess what? At about 2 months pregnant I was eating a ton of mandarine oranges, at least 5-6 a day!! I didn't have to many cravings actually, because I've been taking the Prenatal vitamins all the time, so I guess that my body had all it needed, but the oranges I did crave, and lately I've been eating apples like a nut (and I never really liked apples!) and icecream! Another myth busted! I've been eating salty things and pickles too but not more than I normally did anyways!

10. Well, there could be some more signs that I forgot about, but I might come back to this post and add them as I remember them. BUT! MOST IMPORTANT!!

THE CHINESE ANCIENT LUNAR CALENDAR FAILED TOO!!!

So, that's it, myths BUSTED! Do not trust the old wives' tales.

It's not a girl, it's a boy!!

Oh MY!! I just found out today that my baby is not a girl, it's actually a boy! I thought I would be a bit boomed by the fact that I won't be having a sweet little girl anymore, to dress in pink and go shopping with, but surprisingly I am very happy to find out it's a boy! It's momma's lil sweetheart, I can't wait to hold him in my arms! Mamma's boy!

OOTD

Another sunny day! The weather has been AWESOME on here lately, I can't believe that it is only April! I am so happy when there is sunny outside, seems that life gets instantly better and all the bad thoughts and problems and worries and all that nasty stuff gets melted by the sun! I always try to think that even when there are clouds, above them there is always bright blue sky! When I feel down because of bad weather I immagine myself on a plane going above the clouds and warming myself up in the sunlight! :) This thinking works as a metaphore too :-p
So this outfit I wore actually a few days ago but I didn't upload it so far, I am a bit behind with the OOTD's, been kind of busy with my work and didn't have time for this blog, which is the FUN! I have pics taken that I still have to upload!
Here are the pics, out for a walk ith my hubby in beautiful Mainz:

Here is what I wore:
Zebra print dress from AMISU (New Yorker)
Grey leopard print leggings from Zara
White leather flower belt (multipurpose actually, cuz you can wear it as a head band too, bracelet, bag ornament etc.) from Only You
Mary Jane white ballet sneakers from Sketchers
Louis Vuitton shoulder bag
Fendi sunnies

Hope my outfit inspires someone ;-)

Belly Bands! (Bauchband)

I've been looking forward to get to wear these super cute belly bands that I picked a few months ago, but by then it was too cold to go out without a big jacket, besides, my preggy belly was still too small for them! I have 4 of them, in the pics below I will show you the ones I've been already wearing, and the 2 more that I didn't, yet!
They are ordered from http://www.bauchbandwebshop.de/. And no I didn't get them for free just to advertise them, I wish I did! haha. I just loved them and I thought I should share with you!
This post will count as OOTD as well :) For 2 days!

OOTD

So warm and so nice outside again! Yay! Over 25 C degrees, I'm totally lovin it! I could wear my favorite kind of outfit, which is THE DRESS!! I love dresses for summer, usually it's almost all I wear while it's hot outside, because a dress is so easy to throw on and add a few accessories and that's it! No need to match things, and even if at times is fun to take time and mix and match clothes, I usually prefer to be ready faster, if possible :)
So here is what I wore:

The dress is from Victoria's secret website (I've had it for a while now...)
Leggings from C&A (I wouldn't normally wear this dress with leggings but I am very self-conscious cellulite-wise right now because of the pregnancy so I thought leggings would be needed!)
Mule sandals from Dr. Jurgens "Antistress" (I need comfy shoes these days...)
Yellow fabric shoulder bag from Deichmann
Gold metal watch - Swatch
Fendi shades
H&M butterfly earrings
Silver rose ring from a private artesanal shop

I love love love the spring flowers, here are some more, for your eyes pleasure:

Dear Helena Rubinstein, give me back my concealer!!!

Why oh WHYYYYYYY do they do this lately?? I heared Chanel is changing the foundations, and you can't find the Pro Lumiere anymore (I dunno about my Mat Lumiere, but I am afraid it's gonna be gone too), to replace them with something else, Clinique is also tossing away some stuff and coming up with new things, and now, I was looking yesterday for a replacement of my favorite concealer of all times, Magic Concealer from helena Rubinestein, and the sales lady told me it was out??? Not produced anymore? And that the new range will only come out in 3 months? I was heartbroken!!! She offered me a Clinique (new product, also) concealer, that is okay but not as good! Is too oily! Waaaaaah! Why?? Why do they do this? Why when, after long searches and trials, lots of money spent on products that are not what you want, you FINALLY find something perfect... they toss it away just to change it?? I think is not a good marketing move, because people these days instead of trying their new products of a certain company (assuming they wanna be faithful to the company, which is RARE these days too, with such a huge variety on the market), will become annoyed and pissed off and go buy some drugstore product that is so-so (or maybe if lucky, will be good) just to get the job done! That's what I would do, when on a budget, anyways! If I would be sure the products that fit me best are gonna be produced for a long time (wishfully forever) I would be more likely to buy another product from the certain company when going to buy replacements for my favs, just so, because I am happy with it! But when they keep changing every year, I get discouraged! I rather go try cheap drugstore products that won't make a hole in my budget if they won't fit me! But when it comes to foundations and concealers, I am crazy, because I have sensitive eyes and acne-prone skin, which gives me more of a hassle to take care of if a breakout or pink eye happen, than paying more for a great high end product!
I will have to go search in all the Douglas shops in my town for a HR Magic Concealer left, darn it!
That was my rant, I am really angry they did this to me!
R.I.P., Magic! :((
I keep the hope that they will bring it back in a similar formula, otherwise I will be very upset :(

Rouge Coco Shine vs. Astor Color Last VIP - review (cheaper dupe for COCO Shine Lipstick)

Both of these lipsticks are similar, so I thought I would make a comparison for you guys. That's because it's about an expensive high end product and a much cheaper drugstore one! In my oppinion, you can't always compare a Chanel product to a drugstore product, because the Chanel cosmetics quality is really great, and in my oppinion for certain products the high price is well worth paying, but in this case, I would give more props to the drugstore product, even if I love the Rouge Coco Shine as well. So let's begin. These are the opponents:

Astor Color Last VIP lipstick, in the color no. 123 *Rose Attraction* and Rouge COCO Shine, in the color no. 61, *Bonheur*. Both shades match better a cold pinky undertone complexion, because they have a blueish undertone, no orangey shades at all. The Astor VIP costs around 5 euros, while the Coco Shine is 27.95 euros! (One could say why would anyone still buy it! Well I did, probably for the same reasons that millions of women do!). So far, advantage Astor.
Let's look at the colors:

In these swatches, above is the Astor, below is the Chanel. The colors are almost the same!! The texture of the Astor is richer, tho, and a bit more matte, while the Chanel is more sheer and glossy. They both have a bit of sheen (even glitter, we can say) to them, and they are both quite mosturizing. Astor lasts alot longer, tho, while Chanel wears out faster. I myself prefer the Chanel's texture, because it feels softer when applied to the lips, more like a gloss/lipbalm, but as the final look is almost the same, I will give credits again to the Astor (even if its texture is more dry, you can kind of feel the glitter particles in it, too). Of course, if you wanna feel chic and fancy, and if you can afford, you can splurge on the Chanel, but you can look just as good (and for longer time) wearing the 5 euros Astor, if you ask me. The main difference is only in the mind, in this case :)

OOTD

I have sooo many ideas for blog posts, just that I didn't have time (again) to properly work on that, so I thought I would do a quick OOTD post, so people don't think I disappeared from the blogging world again! This is what I wore today! It was nice and sunny, so I made hubby take many pics while having a walk:

Let's break it down:
- Paisley pattern dress: AMISU (from New Yorker)
- The cropped jacket is actually a utility jacket that you can wear in many ways, just unzipping parts of it, which I absolutely love, that I bought a few years ago from Victoria's Secret website. I checked and they don't seem to have it anymore, or I couldn't find it anyways :( You can wear it as normal long sleeve jacket, cropped long sleeve jacket (you take off the lower part), normal vest (you take off the sleeves), or cropped vest (you take off the sleeves and the lower part)! fab!
- Black tights with a striped pattern that I can't remember where I got from.. but they shouldn't be hard to find...
- Oval purple stone ring from Bijou Brigitte
- Fendi sunnies
- Fishbone shoes from New Yorker
- Grey canvas satchel bag from Zara
- mother of pearl flower earrings that I think I got from Deischmann (they do have jewelery too!)
- long necklace with solid perfume hidden in a daisy flower (Marc Jacobs)
- the little Virgin Mary necklace that I always wear, from Sacre Coeur, Paris (I never take that one off so it will be in all my ootd's)

And here are some beautiful spring flowers and blooming trees, as eye candy :):

it's clear, I HATE wearing large preggy clothes!

OOTD:
I am still trying to get into my normal dresses and I think the fitted clothes look way better on me than the regular pregnant wear (aka large empire waist things). I think large things make me look like a kitchen cabinet or like a fridge or like both of those stuck together and covered with a cloth, like when you are painting the walls and don't wanna ruin the furniture! Scary, as I am definitely not a petite type! I am 1m75cm (5ft9inch...or 10 inch never knew exactly what 1m75 is in inches) tall! I rather wear tight things and show my shape, even if it's a bumpy shape!
So this is what I wore today:

Dress (normally I love it cuz it's waist fitted... but I like how it looks on my bump too!) from C&A Clockhouse
Clogs: Prima Donna (no idea where I bought them from but they are super comfy)
Tote: Louis Vuitton
Sunnies: Fendi
Watch: Swatch
My dear silver rose ring

And that's all, thank God for warm weather!! I need a tan tho! Oh and look at this guy's garage door, the picture is great, reminded me of my vacation 2 years ago in the S of France where there was a passage to the beach that look just like this! Fabulous garage, dude!

DIY - how to make an earrings organizer

Sooo, yeah!I have WAY too many earrings! I have too many of all the annoying little things that always get lost, actually, but here I will talk about my earrings only (for now). I was always ending up loosing one earring of each pair or getting them tangled or broken when keeping them in the boxes or drawers, so I thought about putting them on display somehow! And as my 2 jewelery trees are already full with all kinds of things, I thought I should do something special for at least a part of my earrings! So I came up with this:

It's a corkboard, the kind people use to pin notes and post-its on! The cork is soft so I can easily push the earrings hooks in it, and for the ones that don't have hooks, I can use the pins that came with the cork board, to hang them on those pins! Also, I stuck the board with tape on the shelf to make sure it won't fall off, and that's it! My earrings are now organised, finally! Whew!
Hope this idea helped someone :)

Shiseido Perfect Rouge

I tested the PK 307 shade of the new Shiseido Perfect Rouge, and I am inlove with it! It is fabulous! I looked on the Douglas website though, to find it, and the PK 307 they had there was a totally different color... hopefully that was just because of my monitor settings, or would be weird!! I will go look for it personally in their store.
But untill then, there's a pic of it!

Great color, blueish undertoned soft pink, perfect for cold skin tones like mine. I worn it more than half of the day and it lasted perfectly, so creamy and lightweight, not sticky and without drying my lips, which I rarely can't usually say about a lipstick! I hate having dry lips!! I will definitely buy this one and maybe more shades of it!

Astor Quick'n'Go 45 sec nailpolish and nailpolish brush review

So this is what I was talking about in a previous post when saying that I know better brushes than the one the Chanel nailpolish had! Below I am showing you the brush of the Astor Quick'n'Go 45 sec nailpolish, compared to a regular nail polish brush (in this case I had handy the Black Pearl Chanel nail polish)

Look how thin the Chanel one is (I know, I know, this is the classic nailpolish brush type) and how big and wide the Astor brush is! This sturdy brush is made especially for FAST nailpolish application, for people that don't have time to *paint* but wanna get their nails done in the easiest fastest and less messy-est way! People like me! On the top of the handle it says "1 sec flash brush". It does work! You don't need more than one stroke for the finger nails and 2 strokes for the thumb nails! And the coverage is perfect! The polish is good, too, great colors and great coverage, and it dries very fast, ok, maybe not as fast as 45 seconds but FAST indeed. One "minus" here would be the lasting power. It does not last too long, on my nails it lasts around 4 days and after that starts to chip. But I guess that is pretty good for a fast aplication nailpolish cuz you can just take it off and add a new one!
These are the 2 shades that I have, but I will definitely buy more of this stuff:

The colors are not named on the bottles, only numbers, the first one is no. 315 and the second is no. 240. Love them :)

How to save on skincare products and makeup: recicle the annoying samples!

Cosmetics samples. You get them everytime you shop at the cosmetic counter, at the pharmacy, or you find them between the pages of the fashion magazines. Do you ever use them? I, myself, use the perfume ones, because I am curious how they smell, and also, I use any sample or face cream/serum/mask that comes in a little plastic tube, but I HATE the ones that come in little envelopes, creams or foundation samples, like the ones in the pic below:

First of all, I cant properly use any of them, because when I try taking out the product it usually spills al over, or if I use a bit, the rest has to be thrown away cuz it won't be good anyways after opening. And I hate wasting things! Besides, you can't even tell if a cream is good when using it only once! Its just... one more cream and thats all, all you can tell about it is the way it smells or the way it absorbs into the skin, but you definitely can't see an effect. So what I do with these guys, is I collect them for a while, and then put them in little empty containers, like this:

At times I have enough of one kind to fill a whole container, at other times I mix them, function of their kind. That is, dry skin creams to dry skin creams, tinted moisturizer to tinted moisturizer, foundation to foundation etc. Here I have a whole big pot of dry skin moisturizer, out of mixed samples, and a little pot of tinted moisturizer made of foundation samples and tinted moisturizers. I mixed them all together as they were not many, this time. Might sound weird but I usually get good mixes like that, because I make sure only to use the ones that are suited for my skin, of course. The dry skin cream I wont need for my face but I will use it on my hands and neck, and the tinted moisturizer that I obtained is really good, is more like a foundation, actually, been using it 3 times and woked great! Of course there is a risk of breakouts but I am being careful :)
So there, if you are into recicling and not throwing away things, like I am, I hope this gave you an idea of what to do with the little samples that you usually feel the urge to throw away cuz they are too hard and annoying to use.
